Installation of Professor Meric S. Gertler as 16th President

Meric Gertler, renowned urban theorist and policy practitioner, was installed as the 16th president of the University of Toronto, at a ceremony in Convocation Hall, November 7, 2013. The event drew a capacity assembly of faculty, staff, students, alumni, governors, past presidents, and supporters of the University, and representatives of its sister institutions and government partners, including The Honourable David Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

In his Installation Address, Professor Gertler identified three strategies to help the University to meet the challenges of the years to come: leveraging its location more fully; strengthening its international partnerships; and re-examining, and perhaps reinventing undergraduate education.
