Visit of His Holiness, the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, to U of T

President Gertler officially welcomed His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje to the University of Toronto, on the first day of a two-day visit of His Holiness to the University’s St George campus. During his visit His Holiness met with faculty and students, and delivered an address entitled, “Mindfulness and Environmental Responsibility” to a capacity audience at Convocation Hall. The address was sponsored by the Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation Centre for Buddhist Studies at U of T, as part of the celebration of its inaugural year. His Holiness also participated in discussions at the Multi-Faith Centre. The Karmapa is the spiritual head of the 900-year-old Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.
