Opening of the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport

President Gertler joined a gathering of more than 300 members and friends of the U of T community to celebrate the official opening of the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. In his remarks, he paid tribute to the Goldring family, the Kimel family, and the late Gordon Stollery, whose generosity made the Centre possible. He also thanked the Government of Ontario for its very substantial contribution. Other speakers included Ms Judy Goldring, Chair of the University’s Governing Council; Mr. Blake Goldring; The Honourable Michael Coteau, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and Minister Responsible for the 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games; Professor Ira Jacobs, Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education; and The Honourable Michael Wilson, Chancellor of the University.
